We’re not your normal vanlife couple, we’re fat, unhealthy meateaters who have a burning desire to go out in the world, explore and document what we see around us. Although we are like we are, we have an open mind and are eager to learn new things as well.
We have a list of things we want to do on the way to our enlightenment so to speak, but none of those things are the things we see from other vanlife couples on YouTube and/or on the web.
We want to help others, we want to travel all over and document things that have a fleeting chance of staying in this world. Before things become a whisper, we want to photograph and document them so they will never be forgotten. With this and bettering ourselves, we have our hands full but greet the challenge with open arms.
The list
The things we are going to seek out are listed in the list below, but this list will keep on growing as we find new things along the way.
Unemployment
We want to document how unemployment is in various places in the world. We also want to help those who are unemployed by taking a nice portrait for them for free in our travels, for them to use in their CV and such. We know this might seem like a first world problem and view of the world, but it is a place to start to do good for others.
Culture
With that we are talking about old customs, jobs and culture that is under threat of the new world. There are many places in the world where old customs are fading away and are close to being lost. Languages as well. We want to do our part in preserving, documenting and remembering these things.
Landscape
Being from Iceland and seeing the world temperature slowly rise, we are fully aware of melting snow and ice, rising sea levels and other problems that are directly connected to global warming. We have already seen one small glacier bid us farewell in our lifetime. So we feel it is our duty to document those parts of nature and the landscape that is under threat from human touch.
Architecture
Again, this might seem like a first world problem or thought, but it is our belief that this falls under cultural items that are slowly being lost. Old churches, city halls, monuments and alike are slowly going away to make room for newer and “better” things.
You can help
Yes, you can help us, head on over to this page here on our site and add what you think we might want to document. The more we are alerted to, the more we can document. Every little helps so don’t be afraid to send us information on the page mentioned above.
